Helpful Hints

  • Before shopping to add more items to your closet, check to see if there is something you can remove. Look at what you have and determine whether it is worth keeping. If not, donate it, sell it, or throw it away.

  • Set aside 15 minutes every day to de-clutter different rooms or areas in your home. This includes putting things away, sorting through items and throwing away trash. This helps your home look more spacious and clean.

  • After de-cluttering, get organized. Put items away and put them in consistent, specific places. This way, everyone knows where everything is and helps in reducing clutter.

  • Always take clothes out of dry-cleaning plastic. The chemicals used in dry cleaning may turn clothes yellow if kept in plastic too long. If you want to cover your clothing, use a fabric garment bag.
